How to Delete Your Account and Data

What Data We Delete

When you request account deletion, we will permanently remove:

• Your profile information (name, email, bio, etc.)
• Account preferences and settings
• Event RSVPs and participation history
• Group memberships and created content
• Messages and communication history
• Payment history and financial information
• Any photos or files you uploaded
• Social login connections (Google, Facebook, Apple)

When you request deletion, we will also notify our service providers (such as payment processors and hosting providers) to delete your data from their systems in accordance with their respective policies.

Data Retention for Legal Compliance

Some data may be retained for a limited time to comply with legal obligations:

• Transaction records (retained for 7 years for tax purposes)
• Fraud prevention data (retained for 2 years)
• Legal dispute records (retained until resolution)

This data is stored securely and is not used for any other purposes.

Your Privacy Rights

California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

• The right to delete your personal information is provided free of charge
• We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights
• You may designate an authorized agent to submit requests on your behalf

Data Portability

Before deleting your account, you may request a copy of your data by visiting Account Settings > Privacy & Data > Download My Data, or by contacting support@homeschoolhive.co.

Facebook Data Deletion

If you signed up using Facebook Login, deleting your Homeschool Hive account will also remove any data we received from Facebook, including:

• Facebook profile information (name, email)
• Facebook User ID
• Profile picture from Facebook

Note: This does not delete your Facebook account or any data stored by Facebook. To manage your Facebook data, visit your Facebook account settings.

Parent/Guardian Rights

Parents or legal guardians may request deletion of their minor children's information. We will verify parental authority before processing such requests.

To submit a request on behalf of a minor:

• Email support@homeschoolhive.co with "Child Data Deletion Request" in the subject
• Include your relationship to the child and verification of guardianship
• Provide the child's name and any associated account information

Confirmation Process

After requesting account deletion:

1. We will send a confirmation email to your registered email address
2. Your account will be deactivated immediately
3. Data deletion will be completed within the timeframe required by applicable law (typically 30-45 days)
4. You will receive a final confirmation email when deletion is complete
